Bitcoin Eyes $84,000 as Whale Withdrawals and Institutional Activity Grow

Bitcoin is showing signs of renewed market interest as large-holder withdrawals and institutional wallet activity attract attention. Despite recent selling pressure, BTC is holding near the $80,000 demand zone, with market participants watching for a possible recovery towards $84,000.

According to the supplied market report, Bitcoin traded at approximately $80,841.90, down 1.25% at the time of the Saturday market snapshot. Improving technical indicators, significant wallet movements and continued activity from major institutional players have added to expectations of a potential recovery.

However, the market remains uncertain. The latest on-chain activity provides useful signals, but it does not confirm that a sustained rally is underway.

Bitcoin Whale Withdrawals Reach $771.5 Million

On-chain data highlighted substantial Bitcoin movements involving newly created wallets.

According to Lookonchain, approximately 40 newly created wallets withdrew 9,458 BTC, valued at around $771.5 million, from trading firm Wintermute since October 1.

Large withdrawals from trading platforms and market participants can attract attention because they may indicate changes in how Bitcoin is being held or managed.

However, a withdrawal alone does not confirm a new purchase or a long-term holding strategy. The destination, ownership and purpose of the funds remain important considerations.

For investors, the key question is whether these movements reflect sustained accumulation or simply a transfer between wallets and custody arrangements.

Institutional Bitcoin Wallet Activity Continues

Institutional-linked wallet activity also drew attention during the reporting period.

Fidelity’s Bitcoin ETF wallet reportedly received 282.63 BTC, worth approximately $23.08 million, from Binance.

Meanwhile, BlackRock-linked wallets received another 384.77 BTC, valued at around $31.4 million.

These transfers highlight continued activity involving major institutional Bitcoin wallets. However, wallet movements should not automatically be interpreted as fresh ETF investments or net inflows.

Transfers between exchanges, custodians and institutional wallets can occur for several operational reasons. Confirmed fund flows provide a clearer picture of investor demand.

Bitcoin Exchange Outflows Add to Market Attention

Bitcoin recorded approximately $465.55 million in net spot exchange outflows on October 22.

During the same period, dollar-denominated exchange reserves declined by 1.35% to $226.33 billion.

Exchange outflows are closely watched because they can indicate that fewer assets are being held on trading platforms. This may be consistent with investors moving Bitcoin into other forms of custody.

However, exchange outflows do not independently establish whether market participants are accumulating Bitcoin or preparing for future transactions.

The combination of large wallet movements and declining exchange reserves has nevertheless added another layer to the current market outlook.

Bitcoin Price Prediction: Can BTC Reach $84,000?

Bitcoin’s immediate price structure remains an important factor in determining whether a recovery can gain momentum.

The $80,000 area has emerged as a key demand zone following recent selling pressure. Market participants are also watching the $81,000 level for signs of sustained support.

Technical indicators have shown some improvement:

  • Parabolic SAR: The indicator turned bullish, suggesting a possible change in short-term momentum.
  • Money Flow Index: The MFI reached 53.74, indicating improving buying pressure.
  • Support levels: The $80,000 demand zone remains important, while sustained support around $81,000 could strengthen the recovery outlook.
  • Upside target: Continued improvement in market momentum could bring the $84,000 level into focus.

These indicators do not guarantee a move higher. Bitcoin would still need to maintain buying interest and overcome selling pressure before a recovery towards $84,000 becomes more convincing.

Strategy Expands Its Bitcoin Holdings to 848,517 BTC

Corporate Bitcoin accumulation remains another important part of the market picture.

Strategy chairman Michael Saylor hinted at further Bitcoin-related developments after the company disclosed purchasing 267 BTC for approximately $22.1 million during the October 12–18 period.

The purchase brought Strategy’s total holdings to 848,517 BTC, acquired for approximately $64.02 billion.

The company’s capital allocation activity also attracted attention. Strategy spent $385.5 million repurchasing STRC preferred shares over two weeks, substantially exceeding the $43.6 million spent on Bitcoin purchases during the same period.

This highlights an important distinction in Strategy’s financial activity. Its Bitcoin exposure remains substantial, but capital allocation also includes preferred-share transactions.

For investors, both sides of the company’s balance sheet and financing activity deserve attention when assessing its Bitcoin strategy.

Bitcoin Core Developers Update Security Disclosure Process

Beyond price action and institutional activity, Bitcoin’s development ecosystem is also addressing emerging security challenges.

Bitcoin Core developers approved changes to the disclosure and patching process for security vulnerabilities that artificial intelligence tools can easily rediscover.

The update replaces potentially lengthy disclosure embargoes with a faster approach to communicating and patching certain vulnerabilities.

The development follows increased use of AI-assisted tools to identify weaknesses across Bitcoin infrastructure.

Security disclosure practices are important for maintaining the reliability of Bitcoin software. Faster communication and patching can help developers respond to vulnerabilities before they become more widely exploitable.

Bitcoin’s Midterm Election Cycle Raises Questions

Bitcoin’s historical relationship with US midterm elections has also returned to market discussions.

Previous major bear-market lows occurred after midterm elections. However, Bitcoin’s July low of $57,850 came several months before the November vote.

By October 22, Bitcoin had recovered approximately 40% from that level.

This suggests that the current market cycle may not follow the same timing as previous election-year patterns.

Historical comparisons can provide context, but they do not establish a reliable forecast for future price movements. Broader liquidity, institutional demand, market positioning and macroeconomic conditions remain important factors.

Cryptocurrency Prices Today: Major Altcoins Decline

The broader cryptocurrency market remained under pressure in the latest Saturday market snapshot, with most major altcoins recording losses.

The reported prices and daily movements were:

Cryptocurrency Reported price Change
Bitcoin (BTC) $80,841.90 -1.25%
Ethereum (ETH) $2,380.28 -1.00%
XRP $1.2907 -2.71%
Solana (SOL) $102.40 -2.01%
BNB $739.07 -0.42%
Cardano (ADA) $0.2114 -2.45%
Dogecoin (DOGE) Not specified -1.73%
TRUMP Not specified +4.09%
Shiba Inu (SHIB) Not specified -0.79%

Among meme coins, TRUMP gained 4.09%, while Shiba Inu declined 0.79%.

The weakness across several major altcoins suggests that broader market sentiment remained cautious even as Bitcoin attracted attention from large holders and institutional-linked wallets.

What Could Influence Bitcoin’s Next Move?

Bitcoin’s potential recovery towards $84,000 depends on several factors rather than any single on-chain or technical signal.

Investors should continue monitoring:

  • Whale activity: Whether large withdrawals are followed by sustained accumulation.
  • Institutional demand: Confirmed ETF flows and changes in institutional holdings.
  • Exchange reserves: Whether declining reserves continue alongside other signs of accumulation.
  • Technical momentum: Whether Bitcoin can maintain support around $80,000 and reclaim $81,000.
  • Corporate exposure: Further Bitcoin purchases and capital allocation decisions from companies such as Strategy.
  • Broader market sentiment: Whether weakness in major altcoins and wider financial markets continues.

The $84,000 level remains an upside area to watch, not a confirmed price target.

The Bottom Line

Bitcoin’s latest market activity points to growing interest from large holders and continued movements involving institutional-linked wallets. Strategy’s substantial BTC holdings and improving technical indicators add further context to the recovery outlook.

However, wallet withdrawals are not the same as confirmed buying, and institutional transfers do not automatically represent fresh ETF inflows.

For Bitcoin to build a stronger recovery case, market participants will need to see sustained demand, stronger price support and confirmation from broader market conditions.
